For cafés and bakeries · 6–25 staff, usually one site

Early opens, short shifts and a Saturday that needs three on the bar.

Small teams, lots of part-timers and students, and a 06:30 open that must never be missed. Midshift makes the week quick to build and hard to get wrong.

Most cafés and bakeries choose Starter — £50 a month for a team of 20.

Templates by day part

Save an "open", a "changeover" and a "close" once, then build the week by dropping people into them.

Availability that students keep up to date

Staff set the hours they can work around lectures in the app, and the rota warns you before you clash with them.

The opener is always confirmed

Anyone rostered to open gets a reminder the night before and must confirm. If they have not by 21:00, you hear about it.

Priced for a small team

Starter has no base fee — a ten-person café pays £25 a month, and only for people rostered that month.

A café rota looks simple until you are the person writing it. Most of the team is part-time, half of them are students whose availability changes every term, and the 06:30 open is the one shift that can never go wrong.

Midshift builds the week from templates by day part — the open, the changeover, the close — so a normal week takes minutes. Staff keep their own availability current in the app, and anyone rostered to open confirms the night before. If they have not by 21:00, you know while there is still time to fix it.

Most cafés and bakeries start on Starter at £2.50 per person a month and move to Team when they want clock-in and payroll export.
